Largest Jewish Studies Faculty in the World

The core of Bar-Ilan University is its Faculty of Jewish Studies, the world's largest and most respected center for academic research in all areas related to Jewish heritage, ranging from ancient manuscripts to Holocaust studies to legal ethics. The Faculty advocates a modern approach to Jewish studies that is at once open-minded, innovative and respectful of tradition. Offering over 1,500 courses to more than 34,000 students, the Faculty boasts world-renowned scholars and publishes a variety of important international journals. In addition, a broad array of research institutes and centres enriches the Faculty's scope. There are 300 additional Jewish Studies courses offered at Bar-Ilan's regional colleges.

Bar-Ilan narrows the gap between religious and secular Israelis by giving them a common language of Jewish tradition. The Basic Jewish Studies Program presents Bar-Ilan students - many secular, immigrant or simply lacking basic Jewish knowledge - with what may be their first and last chance at Jewish literacy. We are the only Israeli university to do so.
