In May the Faculty of Law was honoured to host Chair of BFBIU, Romie Tager KC, and his wife Esther Tager, to present the annual Tager Prize for Outstanding Articles in Jewish Law and the Study of Halacha.
Over 20 articles by scholars of Jewish Law and Halacha were submitted for this year’s Tager Prize.
The awards for 2021-22/2022-23 were presented to:
- Dr. Haim Shapira (Faculty of Law, Bar-Ilan University)
- Rabbi Dr. Shmuel Shimoni (Faculty of Law, Bar-Ilan University, Hebrew University, Yeshivat Har-Zion)
In addition to this, the Tager Prize for outstanding seminar papers in Hebrew Law, was presented to two undergraduate students: Avraham Dal and Shira Ben Yashar.
Earlier in May, the Faculty of Law was also honoured to host BFBIU’s Hon. Vice President, Sir Bernard Rix, who gave a lecture on ‘Principle and Pragmatism’.
Although students were not allowed on campus that day, there were still over 40 students eagerly listening to Sir Bernard talking about legal theory, practice and the many cases he had worked on throughout his distinguished legal career.
