Faculties at Bar-Ilan
Bar-Ilan boasts nine faculties: Jewish Studies, Medicine, Engineering, Law, Life Sciences, Exact Sciences, Social Sciences, Education and Humanities.
Faculty of Engineering
The Alexander Kofkin Faculty of Engineering is a dynamic, forward-looking institution, leading in high-tech R&D. The Faculty is led by a young and dynamic research faculty offering a variety of interdisciplinary research programmes, many of which include collaborations with some of the world’s leading research centres.
Faculty of Jewish Studies
The Faculty of Jewish Studies at Bar-Ilan is the largest of its kind in the academic world. It offers 1,500 courses and programmes taught by a faculty of 300 members and is divided into 10 departments, a Centre for Basic Jewish Studies, 16 research institutes and centres and 25 chairs.
Over 1,800 students are enrolled in the Faculty, studying for BA, MA and PhD degrees. In addition, 16,000 students from all university faculties study at the Schulman Center for Basic Jewish Studies.
Faculty of Medicine
Founded in 2011, the Azrieli Faculty of Medicine in Safed has a dual mission: To train the next generation of physicians and medical researchers; and to increase the quality and quantity of healthcare in the Galilee.
Since opening in Safed in 2011, 1,478 students have graduated from the Faculty, many of whom have settled in the Galilee to continue their work as medical practitioners.
Faculty of Law
Bar-Ilan’s Faculty of Law is at the forefront of legal research. The Faculty is constantly developing and innovating new fields of research, study programmes, legal clinics and more. In recent years, the faculty have developed new fields of research including law and information technology, environmental and sustainability law and behavioural ethics law. The Faculty continuously expands its international contacts which include universities from Europe, North America and Asia.
Faculty of Life Sciences
The Mina & Everard Goodman Faculty of Life Sciences offers students biological knowledge and a scientific education based on modern research.
The Faculty includes over 40 scientific researchers with a wide variety of research interests which they also teach.
Faculty of Exact Sciences
The Faculty of Exact Sciences is internationally recognized for its achievements in pure and applied research and for the quality of its educational offerings in its four academic departments: Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics and Physics.
In addition to the 2,000 students who study there, the Faculty has a large global community of post-doctoral fellows involved in cutting-edge research projects.
Faculty of Social Sciences
Bar-Ilan’s Faculty of Social Sciences is the largest and most varied of all faculties.
The Faculty is located at the very centre of the university campus, inside the Mexico Building.
Faculty of Education
Ranked as one of the best educational departments in the world, Bar-Ilan’s Faculty of Education is the leading one in Israel.
Over 2,000 students study in a variety of programmes: undergraduate and graduate degrees and in the department of teacher training. An additional 2,000 educators participate in the internship programmes and professional development opportunities.
Faculty of Humanities
The Faculty of Humanities awards BA, MA and PhD degrees in all departments, ranging from the Departments of Arabic and Classical Studies to the Departments of Information Science and English as a Foreign Language.
Teaching certificates are also awarded in Comparative Literature, English, French Culture and Music.
