One Year On…

In a ceremony to mark one year since 7th October, hundreds of Bar-Ilan staff, students and faculty have come together to pay their respects and remember those Bar-Ilan community members killed on, and after, Israel’s darkest day.

Bar-Ilan President, Prof. Arie Zaban, opened the ceremony saying: “We came here to remember together, to cry together – and to carry on, together, because this is our way and this is our strength.”

Throughout his speech and the entire ceremony, the names and stories of the fallen and murdered from the Bar-Ilan community were mentioned.

Since October 7th, the university has lost 57 of its sons and daughters. The most recent among them, Revital Bronstein BDH, an outstanding graduate student in the Data Science program, was murdered in the terror attack in Jaffa on the eve of Rosh Hashanah.

The ceremony concluded with a prayer for the return of the hostages, led by Rabbi Shlomo Shefer.
