Bar-Ilan’s Prof. Eitan Okun has been awarded the Katz Award by Israel’s President Isaac Herzog.
The award was presented to Alzheimer’s researcher, Prof. Okun, for his bravery on 7th October when he bravely fought off terrorists attacking his community at Kibbutz Alumim.
Prof. Eitan Okun, of Bar-Ilan’s Gonda Brain Research Center, has spent years leading research into Alzheimer’s. On 7th October all that changed, when he left his wife and five children behind in the safe room and, alongside members of the kibbutz alert squad, set out to fight terrorists who had infiltrated his kibbutz.
