Immanuel College student receives Bar-Ilan Award

News

Immanuel College student, Rafi Goldstein, has been awarded The Bar-Ilan Trophy for Jewish Studies at the school’s recent Prize-Giving Ceremony.

Immanuel’s Head of Formal Jewish Education, Michael Lewis, praised Rafi’s achievements in Jewish Studies, commenting:

“Rafi personifies Judaism and Jewish Studies in the school. Inside the classroom, he has been the only student who has taken the Biblical Hebrew GCSE, using his own time to ensure he completed the course, and he attained the highest grade possible a year early. He has also been part of the school’s Advanced Skills Kodesh programme since he began the school. Outside the classroom, Rafi takes an active part in the Beit, and he is now the gabbai of the Beit.”

On receiving the award, Rafi’s family said:

“Rafi was delighted to win the Bar Ilan prize this year. At school he enjoys all subjects, particularly maths, science and PE. Rafi loves leading the davening in the Beit at Immanuel and this year has taken on the role of gabai. He also enjoys learning gemorah (Bava Basra) with his chevrusa. Last year Rafi gained grade 9’s in Biblical Hebrew and maths GCSEs and he is working hard for the rest of his GCSE’s this year. In his spare time he enjoys piano, swimming and playing football.”

Mazel tov Rafi from everyone at Bar-Ilan!
